Rector’s Letter for Trinity Sunday, 12th June 2022

Dear sisters and brothers

This Sunday we celebrate the Feast of the Holy Trinity, when we celebrate and affirm our belief in one God who is three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, coequal, coeternal and consubstantial, as set out in the creeds of the Church and proclaimed in our worship. (Look to page 27 of your Prayer Books to find out more…)

Our understanding of the nature of God has grown and evolved over the centuries. From the one true God of the Hebrew Scriptures, to the New Testament, where we can see the divinity of Jesus and the Holy Spirit being acknowledged and explored.  As early Christians grew as a faith they came to understand God as Trinity, the three in one and one in three.

Although we can never fully understand the full nature of God in this life, we still pray and reflect upon the God who made us and redeemed us. We still gain new understanding of the depths of love which is the Trinity, the love which flows between the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, which overflows into the world. We seek to see the eternal dance which is God in Trinity.

Take time this week to consider how the love of God flows into your life and into the world.

Consider how you can grow your relationship with the God who is Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Consider how you can join the dance of the Trinity, and be transformed.

With all blessings

Fr Edward
