Church Wardens’ Message No 23 for Palm Sunday 28 March 2021

Here is the twenty-third of the Church Wardens’ messages to the Parish:

These are the arrangements for Holy Week that starts on Sunday with an online Palm Sunday Eucharist. As we are preparing to re-open the church and celebrate Easter online as well as in our opened churches, the arrangements may seem complicated but “needs must”. Just to remind you, Gloria asked that donations towards the Easter flowers can be made by cheque (payable to St Wilfrid’s PCC) and posted into the Church Office by the Rectory. As we are sure you will be aware, social distancing, masks and registers etc will be necessary in the churches.

Saturday 27th March

The St Wilfrids Porch will be open from 10.00am until 4.00pm for those who will be joining our online Palm Sunday congregation to collect an “unblessed” palm which will then be blessed during the service. For those who would prefer it, a number of “blessed” palms will then be available for collection in the churches when they are opened.

FINALLY, we would like, again, to let people know that work will hopefully start soon on some very necessary repairs to our wonderful church tower at St Wilfrid’s. An application to carry out the repairs has been lodged with the Diocese and we expect the Archdeacon to issue a Letter of Authority to commence work shortly. Details of the very necessary financial appeal will be circulated after Easter.

The Wardens can always be contacted via email wardens@stwilfridshaywardsheath.org.uk for matters such as wedding and baptism enquiry dates etc. Although the church is not open for these activities at present, they are recorded in the Church Diary so that we do not forget them.

So, hoping that we will see many of you in our churches on Easter Day, and also on screen during our streamed Holy Week programme of services.

God Bless and Keep Safe – Arthur and Derek
