Here is the tenth of the Church Wardens’ messages to the Parish (first issued on 17 December, then REVISED on 20 December, to reflect the regrettable cancellation of our “Celebration of Christmas in Words and Music” planned for Tuesday 22 December):
Next Sunday (20th December), we shall be welcoming Father Mike to preside at our two Sunday Eucharists (9.00am in St Wilfrid’s and 10.30am in The Presentation). Father Mike will also be leading a shorter Eucharist on Sunday 27th December at St Wilfrid’s at the usual time of 9.00am. Please note there will be no service in The Presentation Church on the 27th.
In regard to Christmas, may we again remind everyone that there will be no Midnight Eucharist. However, there WILL be a Eucharist in BOTH churches at 10.00am on Christmas Day. The later time traditionally allows time for children to unwrap presents before joining us in church. Services are also streamed online from the Cathedral and we guess this would probably include services for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Further details can be found here: https://www.chichestercathedral.org.uk/worship/live-streamed-services
It is with great regret that we have now decided to CANCEL our “Celebration of Christmas in Words and Music” which was planned for this Tuesday 22 December at 7.30pm in St Wilfrid’s Church.
We would like to thank everyone who had contributed to the planning and preparation of that event. We hope that we can offer something similar in the future.
HOWEVER, as there will sadly be no Nativity service this year, on Christmas Eve at 4.00pm we ARE going to provide something experimental for children (and everyone else for that matter) on ZOOM (you may need to download the program but we believe it also opens in your browsers). There will be a short story-telling session using Power Point and then we will all join in singing “Away in a Manger” in our separate homes. Here is the Zoom link:

Also, of course, do not forget to keep an eye on our website, Twitter posts and Facebook feeds.
As this will be the last Wardens’ Message before the New Year, we would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Let us all hope and pray that 2021 signals a new beginning and that all who make St Wilfrid’s and the Church of Presentation what it is will be able to celebrate again soon together face to face. We ask this in the name of the One God whose birth we all acclaim at this Christmastide.
